Create three to five unique wearable art pieces during this weekend workshop. (Keep one or two for yourself and give the others away as special gifts?) We will modernize the ancient technique of Japanese shibori and explore easy methods for applying dye to silk scarves. No experience is necessary. All materials will be supplied including 100% silk scarves, a large variety of color dyes and gloves to keep your hands clean. Keep in mind using dyes can be messy, so bring an apron or wear clothes that you don’t mind getting stained.

Catherine Rodgers is a painter at heart and recently jumped from painting the canvas to exploring putting pigment down on silk scarves. She is known as a colorist and has been teaching color theory workshops for the Arkansas Arts Center including one based on the works of Mark Rothko. Her scarves are available for purchase in the Arkansas Arts Center Museum Shop.
